The Peaks

The village on the way to Chatsworth,  March 2013

I do love to visit far flung places but there is nothing quite like the British countryside. I'm not one to sit still, so whenever I get the chance, a quick trip up the M1 to the Peak District is an easy way to enjoy the outdoors.

Chatsworth

Tideswell, 'the Cathedral of the Peak' is a typical countryside village midway between Buxton and Bakewell. Whilst it has all the amenities one needs for a weekend away (pubs, a shop, butcher etc.), it's small enough to have a real community too!

As for activities, the list is never-ending: walks (long and short), trail runs, road and off-road cycling, watersports at a local rservoir, historical buildings such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall and it goes without saying that a pint at the local by the roaring fire never goes amiss. And at the end of a long day in often challenging weather conditions, the absolute silence at night really does help contribute to an excellent sleep.
